The 2017 Supply Chain Management Symposium will provide insights into managing contemporary and evolving supply chains. Our Invited Speakers will present and lead discussions that explore key disruptive technologies, customer/market trends, and new supply chain relationship structures — all critical to driving improvements in the cost and responsiveness landscape.
The Symposium is a full-day event and is hosted at the Wyndham Pittsburgh University Center on the campus of the University of Pittsburgh. In addition to the Speaker Sessions, there is a Student Poster competition and optional tours and activities on Thursday afternoon and the evening prior to the event.

Poster authors qualify for free admission to the 2017 Supply Chain Management Symposium: Supply Chain Management in the Digital Age
The Pitt Business Center for Supply Chain Management's fall 2017 symposium on November 3, 2017 will feature a poster session in which students will be able to explore their areas of interest in supply chain management and compete for cash prizes. Posters will be on display during the symposium, and the agenda will include time for attendees to visit the poster area to meet with participating students. Additionally, students can participate in networking sessions at the symposium.
Who Should Participate
Undergraduate and graduate students from the University of Pittsburgh and other colleges and universities are eligible to participate. To be eligible, participants must be enrolled as a college student in the fall 2017 term. Posters can be authored individually or in teams of up to three individuals.
To register, you must submit your topic of interest. If a specific topic is over-subscribed, authors may be asked to choose a different topic so please submit your topics early. Your final poster will not be due until the date of the event. View sample topics here, but authors are encouraged to develop their own topics.
The registration period deadlines:
- Now - Register as soon as possible, selecting and submitting your poster topic
- October 15, 2017 - The deadline for submitting your Poster Title and Abstract
- Participants can pick up the tri fold and poster mounting materials from 335 MR anytime after October 15.
- Participants are responsible for bringing their mounted posters to the Wyndham Ballroom by 7:30 am on November 3.
The Judging Process
Posters will be judged by a panel of business professionals and faculty members. The posters will be evaluated based on the quality of the author's findings/recommendations, and how clearly, concisely, and creatively these points are communicated through the poster and the author.
The posters will be designated as either graduate and undergraduate. The awards are as follows:
- Graduate Poster Entries - $750 for first place, $500 for second place, $250 for third place
- Undergraduate Poster Entries - $600 for first place, $300 for second place, and $200 for third place
